Although there is only one universe, the sky we gaze upon takes on different appearances depending on where we are. This work depicts the universe as seen from Japan, incorporating elements of traditional Japanese aesthetics. The striking crescent moon symbolizes Japan’s traditional sense of beauty, while the fantastical lights and colors floating in the night sky represent the mystery and vastness of the universe. While paying homage to Van Gogh’s *Starry Night*, this piece fuses Japan’s unique sensibilities to depict a worldview that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The stars shining in the night sky and the flowing light stimulate the viewer’s imagination and allow them to sense the infinite expanse of the universe.
