While I make my living as a graphic designer, I also call myself a “name artist.” I want to infuse people’s names and kanji characters with personality, so I arrange them abstractly to create bright, cheerful illustrations that I hope will put viewers at ease. My goal is to create artwork that offers a different experience to each viewer.
For this series, I’ve created works that reflect my own interpretations of four-character idioms associated with prayers, infusing them with a unique character. I hope viewers will feel uplifted and cheerful when they see them. Arranging the characters in an S-shape is said to improve one’s fortune according to feng shui, so I’d be delighted if you framed these postcards and displayed them in your home.
