I was inspired by the striking undulations and ripples of light in Van Gogh’s *Starry Night*. Although the theme of the universe is a grand one, I drew on the image of a paisley pattern to express how the cosmos and Earth are interconnected and come alive. I also incorporated plenty of the striking yellow found in *Starry Night* to create a bright, cheerful design, so that this notebook would be one you’d want to keep close at hand.
