Memories of the Tree Spirit's Past

In this work, which depicts a contrast between past and present urban landscapes through the perspective of a tree spirit, the story is structured around the tree spirit’s memories. A flashback depicts the moment when a friend with whom the tree spirit once spent time in the forest is transported away to become a landscape tree in the city; the vehicles appearing in this scene have a different appearance from those of today, visually illustrating the gap between eras. In the flashback scenes, the artist uses decorative depictions of leaves and pale color tones to emphasize the ambiguity of memory and a sense of nostalgia, quietly questioning the relationship between urbanization and nature.
