Monet's Garden
Based on a diagonal macramé knot and making full use of soutache and other techniques, I created a lariat inspired by “Monet’s Garden,” drawing on his two-dimensional “Water Lilies.” For the base, I tied nine strands of lace-knitting yarn together, utilizing the natural spiral twist that forms. Although it isn’t visible in the photo, I’ve arranged a small Kaga thimble like a paper lantern at the tip of the ribbon bow at the back. The water lilies—depicting various stages from full bloom to half-open and buds—were crafted petal by petal and assembled together. Combined with water lily leaves made of felt to add nuance, water droplets on the leaves, a frog, and beads representing flowing water, the piece as a whole evokes the image of “Monet’s Garden.”
