Paying homage to the dynamic brushwork and context of the National Treasure *Chijū-jinbutsu-giga* (Pictures of Birds, Beasts, and People at Play), we have reimagined the scene featuring modern-day cats.
The illustration features two tabby cats.
We’ve replaced the twigs and grass held by the animals in the original work with “catnip branches” and “cat toys,” depicting them as they innocently enjoy a game of chase.
We paid close attention to recreating the original painting’s brushwork—including the texture of the ink and the slight smudges in the lines—and rendered it on warm-toned paper.
Each “Uchino Neko” stamp was applied by hand, one by one.
Including the subtle smudges of ink, we’ve crafted a truly one-of-a-kind postcard.
