After turning 40, I casually began creating works using “craft bands.” After winning an award at an art exhibition, I started to take an interest in a wider range of things. So far, I have been selected as a finalist in three categories: illustration, photography, and three-dimensional art. While exploring the realms of “fine art, crafts, and artisanal work,” I’ve been actively engaged in a wide range of activities—from selling practical items at markets to holding solo exhibitions and participating in art shows. My participation in this museum is one such activity, and I’m primarily involved through HOLART. Additionally, the items I create for the market scene include “craft band tote bags,” “handmade tatami edging,” “gel candles,” and “keychains.” I also make dog clothes exclusively for my two Toy Poodles. So, speaking from a personal perspective, I feel most comfortable identifying as somewhere between an artist and a craftsman. “artesano”—the Spanish word for “craftsman”—is my favorite term.
