About Mushikago This brand was created by the female employees of Washi Club, a manufacturer and wholesaler of washi paper products founded in Showa 45. Born from the desire to create a space where young designers can express their individuality without being bound by conventional wisdom, while carrying on Washi Club’s spirit of “enjoying the past to understand the present,” the brand was born. When asked, “What comes to mind when you hear ‘○○-mushi’?” many people might answer “bookworm.” It’s a term used to describe someone who loves reading and is completely absorbed in it. In this way, “○○ no Mushi” refers not just to simply “liking” something, but to being deeply passionate about it—to being utterly absorbed. “Mushikago” is a wonderful place where people who are passionate about such things gather. According to the Kojien dictionary, “mushi” (bug) refers to “the source that gives rise to certain thoughts or emotions. In ancient times, people believed there were bugs inside the heart that stirred up thoughts and emotions.” We’ve prepared a wonderful “Mushikago” where the “mushi” inside each of you can become completely absorbed, and we’re always here waiting for you.
