Akemi Shibata Professor, Osaka University of Arts Junior College Quilt Designer I discovered patchwork—a medium that allows me to express all my passions, including painting, interior design, fashion, gardening, and sewing—and found my calling in life. In 1984, she opened the quilt shop and school “AKEMI SHIBATA.” Currently, in addition to teaching at the Osaka University of Arts Junior College, she offers patchwork classes at the NHK Cultural Center, Yomiuri Cultural Center, Sankei Living, the Kobe Shimbun, and other venues.
