At Katzenmusik, we introduce Japanese customers to original illustrations created exclusively for us by an American cat-loving artist who is very popular in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The cats’ expressions are truly unique and surreal. The unisex designs are a major draw, making them popular not only with women but also with men. I personally frame the original cat illustrations and greeting cards, and I also create original merchandise—such as fabric accessories, mugs, glasses, greeting cards, and stationery—using these designs. I do this with the image of a charming boutique in mind, imagining the kinds of items I’d love to see available.
