I work as a high school student who creates wooden-barrel pens. I mainly make ballpoint pens, fountain pens, and mechanical pencils. I craft these pens by turning various types of wood on a wood lathe. I’ve been making pens since my first year of junior high school, so I’ve been at this for about five years. I’m also expanding the scope of my work beyond just wooden pens. Since my father is a lacquer artist, we’ve been collaborating on projects quite often lately. My work is characterized by the warmth unique to handmade items and the luxurious feel achieved through the use of lacquer.
