Shirota
This is Shirota. September 6, 2018. Late at night, when the lights went out across all of Hokkaido. Driven by fear and anxiety, I happened to look up at the star-filled sky—it was absolutely beautiful. To ensure I never forget this radiance—which had been buried beneath artificial lights—I resolved to paint the starry sky. I create paintings that feature the starry sky as the main subject, combined with other things I love. I primarily use watercolor, but also incorporate Japanese-style watercolors, ink, coffee, and other materials.
