Profile
Based in Kyoto, we design and sell washi interior products and other items, guided by the principle of bringing out and making the most of the inherent beauty of plain washi. We also offer many products that combine phosphorescent materials with washi, allowing them to glow in the dark. The Flame
トーチをモチーフにしたデザイン･設計･製作のオリジナルのランタン(炎バージョン)。炎の部分は、雲龍紙･典具帖紙･王朝の染め色等の暖色系の和紙を中心に、「切って､貼る」のだけではなく､裂く･ヤスリ掛け･透過･脱色･絡ませて混ぜる等の技法を経て､点灯時と消灯後の両方で「いかに炎ぽく見えるか､いかに炎の揺らめきや熱さを柄として出せるか」を意識し、製作しました。和紙のオリジナルの色のみを使用するという信条の元、和紙に新しく着色は一切しておりません。
このランタンのウリの1つとして、点灯時には炎の筒部分の上部に施した仕掛けにより、天井に写真のように蝶が投影されます(投稿画像が1枚でしたので、投稿した蝶の画像は差し込みました)。蝶以外にも幾つか柄を製作してます。投稿シルエットのパーツを何パターンか用意することで、お客様にもシルエットをその時のに合わせて変えて、「灯り」以外にシルエットも色々と楽しんで頂けるようにと思っております。
また、その炎の外側は保護や芯も兼ねて、薄い塩ビ板を使用してますが、その筒部分も「炎」と見立てた時に、土台との比率や最もバランスが良い筒の太さや長さを計算し、幾多の試作の後に出来ています。(炎バージョン)と冒頭にありますが、青色の炎や虹色等のバージョンも製作予定です。消灯後には、上部の白色のリングが蓄光材使用により、消灯後は淡く発光します。
土台に関しては、底面/側面/筒との接合面等にも和紙を使用し、土台自身も自身で加工したパーツを数個組合せてます。
また、例えば､土台の上部の白色の円形部分等の一部パーツはイチから作っています。以上が各パーツ等の説明になります。
また、地味･敷居が高い･身近に中々縁が無いと思われがちな和紙のイメージをオリジナルの作品を通して、少しでも変えたい、和紙の新たな可能性を引き出すことをモットーに製作しております。
そういう想いも込めて、点灯時も消灯後も炎としてのインテリアにもなり､身近に使用できるものとして、実用性のあるランタン製作してます。
