黒亀世界堂

I create Japanese-style paintings featuring the Japanese pond turtle and the grass turtle, two native species found in my local area. By placing Kyoto’s streetscapes and buildings on the turtles’ backs and incorporating actual scenery seen in Kyoto, I depict a slightly whimsical and humorous world where the turtles and the city become one.
Painted with acrylic gouache on wooden panels, these works are crafted as art panels (complete with wall-mounting hardware) featuring an approachable, picture-book-like style.
I also create small pieces such as brooches and eggwood carvings using the same motifs, expressing the cheerful stories of the turtles’ lives in various forms.
