To create a sense of depth,
I used washi paper and sumi ink.
Since deer are sometimes said to be messengers of the gods,
they are creatures whose population size
is considered crucial for maintaining the mountain ecosystem.
While tossed about by the tides of time,
this deer gazes toward something that will grow in the future—
a sprout of hope is sprouting.
Ink has the effect of purifying the air,
and washi paper—a traditional Japanese material that is also environmentally friendly—absorbs moisture when indoor humidity is high and releases it when humidity is low.
