Long ago, every neighborhood had its own portable shrine.
On festival days, large groups of young men from the town would pull it through the streets.
People of all ages—men and women, young and old—looked forward to that day.
The portable shrines were polished to a shine, the sound of bells rang out,
numerous food stalls lined the streets, and lively conversations filled the air.
Those happy times went on and on.

Several thousand years later, those portable shrines disappeared from the neighborhoods.
However, vehicles to replace them now stand in each neighborhood association.
Today is festival day.
The beautifully polished “neighborhood association spaceship”
is about to take flight into the sky.
