Wood Panels, Wood Eggs, Japanese Painting

I use acrylic paints to depict the lives of Japanese pond turtles and grass turtles on wood panels and “wood eggs.” Through scenes of the turtles reading books, drinking alcohol, and relaxing in their rooms—just like humans—I bring to life endearing little stories.
In my Japanese-style paintings, I depict turtles carrying the streetscapes and buildings of Kyoto on their backs, as well as scenes of turtles living freely and at their own pace. In a world where reality and fantasy intertwine, I express the resilience and charm of these turtles. I hope you’ll enjoy this slightly mysterious yet somehow nostalgic world of turtles.
