I painted a vibrant, pop-art-style, exciting red Mount Fuji.
I applied four layers of vivid pink water-soluble paint and four layers of gofun (white pigment), letting each layer dry between coats. Then, using a technique called “momi-gami”—where I crumpled washi paper to create wrinkles—I created the background, mounted it on a panel, and painted Mount Fuji.
There are also small depictions of pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms hidden in the composition—see if you can find them.
I hope you enjoy this fusion of classical Japanese painting techniques and contemporary artistic expression—a world that’s both happy and pop.
