Collecting Little Moments of Happiness
I drew the Ezo squirrel—a cute symbol of Hokkaido—along with white clover and marguerites. Although the Ezo squirrel has a negative connotation in Ainu culture, it is now a cute animal that even Sapporo residents can easily encounter at places like Hokkaido Jingu Shrine. The white clover’s floral meanings are “good luck” and “promise,” while the marguerite’s is “trust.” Although conflicts continue around the world, I hope that someday we will all come to accept and trust one another, bringing good luck to everyone and ushering in a peaceful world.
