The Hunter of Urahata (2023)

I create these pieces using the woodburning technique. I also make the frames myself.
*Description: A small vegetable patch behind the main house. My beloved cat fends off thieves who come night after night. The results of these battles are etched into a worn-out tractor tire. A sliver of a crescent moon shines overhead. In other words, it’s a night scene. Furthermore, this crescent moon serves as a double entendre, also representing the front ornament of a samurai helmet (the decorative piece attached to the front of the helmet), symbolizing that this cat is a warrior.
