Fluffy, Fluffy Bubbles

A young girl is blowing soap bubbles. I’ve depicted this scene using pixel art. By concealing her facial expression and employing the abstract nature of pixel art, I aim to create a work that leaves room for the viewer’s imagination—one that is completed through the viewer’s own mental visualization.
When people hear the term “pixel art,” they often think of video games or digital media. I work with the hope that pixel art will become so widespread that it’s no longer just a specific form of expression, but rather a versatile design tool.
In this piece, I’ve created a frame modeled after a soap bubble using felt I made myself and placed it around the pixel art illustration, aiming to create a collaboration between the digital and the handmade. I hope you’ll enjoy pixel art as one of many diverse forms of expression.
