Pi is a number that goes on forever. The universe also extends endlessly. Prime numbers, too, are infinite—and each one is unique.
On the front, starting with the Sun, I represented the sizes of the planets in the solar system using their first eight digits. Furthermore, the stars in the Milky Way each have different luminosities and sizes. I wanted to express phenomena such as random numbers, randomness, regularity, and irregularity. I invite you to trace the path of pi clockwise.
The reverse side features prime numbers—numbers that cannot be divided evenly! Starting with the Sun, they extend beyond the solar system and into the far reaches of the universe. I deliberately arranged them in a regular pattern to represent a collective whole.

The universe and numbers. I hope this reminds you that “mathematics” is an essential discipline for understanding the universe.
